Hai Van pass, the mountain peak between Hue and Da Nang. Highway 1 goes through the pass as does train service. There was a train derailment here recently (early 2005) that killed 13 people. Train service between Hanoi and HCM was suspended as a result. I have traveled through the pass on that train before, doh! Not on this trip but the following year.
