I wanted to see the old American Embassy, what I thought at the time was the site of the helicopter evacuation on April 19, 1975 pictured in that famous photograph. As it turns out, the photograph was taken close by on the roof of an apartment building at 22 Gia Long Street where CIA employees were housed. I think this building has since been torn down.
